About JessyQuil & The Quillective

I’m JessyQuil — I talk loudly over video games about the human condition. I stream variety gaming & creative Twitch while discussing self care with my hedgehog, Q & cat, Lydia.

I talk about important topics like psychology, PR, cybersecurity, relationship building, life advice, personal improvement, and mental health in blogs & on cast, and on official stages, like at Dreamhack Dallas, PAX South, TwitchCon, and PAX East.

Within The Quillective, we’ve created a friendly place for people to either forget about their issues, or to support themselves or others. I use my university knowledge to educate our community on various topics, usually related to mental health, psychology, and self care. I enjoy discussing a game’s atmosphere, the character relationships, or an NPC’s aside joke to get to the meat of the issue being highlighted. In addition to this, we discuss our mental and physical well-being and how to become a better person each day.

The Quillective is a friendly place to support each other whilst experiencing variety of games touching on human condition.

We don’t solely focus on these subjects. But we will when the game or conversation is driven towards them. Why? It’s important to let others know they are not alone in their analyses and struggles. If I can say one thing to assist someone’s day, situation, or life… that’s worth so much to me. You all are more than just followers. You are beautiful, smart, hardworking people behind these pixels who I want to touch kindly with my words and care.

Although I do have university theory in explaining and applying therapeutic techniques, I am not a licensed professional or psychologist. But I enjoy teaching people that we all approach, suffer, and conquer our battles in different ways. Sometimes we need a reminder on what works, or a new game plan. It is a sign of strength – not weakness – to use all of society’s tools at your disposal to build yourself up into the person you want to become.

My community and I pride ourselves in fundraising over $14,603 in 5 years for various charities such as Color Of Change, To Write Love On Her Arms, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Extra Life, Good Games Done Slow, Whales and Dolphin Conservation, and others on various platforms such as Tiltify, Extra Life, and more.

I have fundraised for The All Hallow’s Eve ScareAThon in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 & Quest for the Cause in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. For both of these large events I’ve donated my time to broadcast and moderate, and provide giveaway incentives.
We had front-page time on Twitch for Code.ORG Dance Party in front of over 4000 viewers in December 2018.
I have administrated and broadcasted for CastTogether to fundraise for TWLOHA on Valentine’s Day 2020.
In 2019, I fundraised $1,680 as a NYC team at 368 Gaming in one afternoon.
I spoke at TwitchCon 2019 on the Tiltify Charity Plaza stage about how to run a successful charity livestream.
I spoke at PAX East 2017 about the importance of balancing a healthy lifestyle using Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs while being a growing content creator. I’ve guest appeared on multiple podcasts such as Mxiety and Gooperatives.
Disclaimer: I’m a mental health advocate, not a licensed professional or psychologist.

I am an organizer for StreamNYC. We organize quarterly meetups for local content creators to meet with others, and with gaming and streaming focused brands. We are the official NYC Powered By Twitch group.
I spoke at PAX South 2016 about the importance of content creators being conscious of their brand and how taking certain opportunities can be either beneficial or detrimental depending on how they conduct themselves.
I spoke at TwitchCon 2016 about how content creators can secure a positive standing with game developers and companies by properly conducting themselves when requesting and showcasing review copies.
I spoke at TwitchCon 2017 about how to be a Positive Influence and the usage of it in The Power of Community Building and about the Twitch Affiliate Program and how to take it to the “Next Level”.

I spoke at TwitchCon 2017, 2018, and 2019 on the benefits of engaging in personal cybersecurity and how to start protecting yourself on the internet.

Unconditionally, video games are my passion. Without gaming, I wouldn’t have my amazing relationships with my family, friends, and community, or my influencer relations management knowledge. Video games are educational art forms that bring people from different subcultures together through the emotions and memories experienced. Consuming and promoting other’s creations gleefully is my favorite hobby.

Stay awhile and listen.
